The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by our veterans while protecting our freedoms. This year, we are changing the Poppy Drive up a little bit. Join our Auxiliary in recreating 'Flanders Fields' on the grounds of Post #283.
Rather than soliciting donations through the standard paper poppy through face-to-face donations during the pandemic, donations are being accepted online (www.alpost283.org/poppy-fund) and in lieu of the traditional paper poppy, a red pinwheel poppy will be placed on the grounds of Post #283 to recreate Flanders Fields. Let’s all pull together to create a beautiful sea of red pinwheels for the community to see!
Please share the above link with friends and family online! Plan is to have poppies on display by Poppy Day, 05/22/2020, for all to see! Remember, all donated funds go to our Post Poppy Fund in support of our Veterans!
Thank you for your time –
